Only if I could go BACK IN TIME
I’ll take my bike for an early morning ride
I’ll once again knock at those mismatching doors of the
colourful neighbourhood
Call out for the Old Creatures of the Present,
Those were my little friends back in time...
This time I’ll take them all for a ride to the next unknown
street ,
Beyond the milestones like the barber’s shop and the fruit
seller,
Into the gloomy restricted lanes with my tiny fleet,
I’ll break the impregnable rules this time, all of them,
I’ll be invincible...
All this, only if I could go back...
I’ll go back to the Old Banyan in the Temple,
Try and Climb that Old Mountain.
Once again, I’ll stalk those “elder kids” on the swings,
And wait for my turn with the inferior juniors.
But this time I realise,
There’s No Big Deal in getting Old,
It just takes Time, no Actuarial Science...
I’ll once again peep into that unending dark loop that
Gulped in Everything,
Even the Sun and My Mighty Roars,
At this visit I realise, it was just a Well in the temple.
All this, only if I could go back...
Every morning now, I’ll wake up early
Only so that I could live more of it
That I could know all the birds that had their shelter at
the temple’s trees
That I could hear a little more of my mother’s tales
That I could play a bit more with my friends and
That I could walk to places with my father on his morning
strolls
All this, only if I could go back...
BUt noW, that I’m here, I realise,
I’ll miss this time too, later on in life.
That I’m Getting Old
That this Youth and Vitality
This will soon be History.
That I should sleep a bit less,
Only to live a little more...
Because it’s good to grow,
And to Grow Old is Inevitable..
As to go back in time is just an Illusion.
It’s a window that is Close for Now and Forever,
A Window of Time that’ll eventually absorb everything,
Even the Sun and My Mighty Roars...
Even the Sun and My Mighty Roars...
